ABOUT US

The Club was established in 1985 by enthusiastic canoeists from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. It is affiliated with Ontario Nature.

Over the years this non-profit club has evolved to offer many group events- organized and led by dedicated volunteers who love outdoor activities.

Members have the opportunity to canoe/kayak, cycle,  cross country ski, snowshoe, hike, and enjoy social and cultural activities.

The club is unique in running single day programs on week days.  This works well for our members who are often retired or have flexible work schedules.

SPRING AND SUMMER ACTIVITIES:

  • In the spring, activities often kick off with the New Members day.  Canoes are available and novices are paired with experienced canoeists.  (the club has 4 canoes and a kayak as well as mandatory safety equipment, tie downs and other items which are available to members at no cost). All enjoy sharing experiences at the BBQ.
  •  Multi-day trips include camping with paddling, biking and hiking as well as biking trips.

   FALL AND WINTER ACTIVITIES:

  • We hold meetings monthly from October to May, usually with a guest speaker. We meet at 12:45 PM on the first Tuesday of each month at Earl Bales Community Centre (4169 Bathurst Street, corner of Bathurst & Sheppard). Here members initiate and renew friendships over coffee and snacks, are stimulated by educational programs and take part in the business of running this non-profit club.
  • In the fall hiking, cycling and community activities are offered mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, although some events are held on other days as well.
  • The fall BBQ is a favorite event.
  • In the winter, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and skating are offered typically on a Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Multi-day trips include a lodge outing where members  cross country ski, snowshoe and socialize, and other overnight trips in various accommodations.

We welcome all those over 55 who have a love of the outdoors. You will meet lots of people who share your enthusiasm.

Guests are welcome to participate in one or two of our outings prior to joining, or may attend one of our meetings to discuss the club with members.  We hope you will join us.
